As Spain take on England both youngsters will be looking to make more history.

Euro 2024 has witnessed many history-makers in the competition so far. Once again, the final of this competition has created another history. Lamine Yamal and Kobbie Mainoo become the first two teenagers in European Championship history to start for their respective nations.

Yamal, who is only 17 years old, has contributed one goal and three assists at Euro 2024, making him one of Spain’s best players.

In the process of leading Spain to the championship, Yamal has already shattered a number of records. Among them is the record for the youngest player to score in a major international tournament, which Pele held since 1958.

Lamine Yamal has set another record as he is in the starting lineup for the Euro 2024 final to become the youngest male footballer to play in a major international tournament final. He surpassed Pele (17 years, 249 days) who held this record since his appearance at the 1958 World Cup. Lamine Yamal breaks this being aged 17 years and 1 day.

Yamal seems to be aiming for yet another record as Spain gets ready for this evening’s Euro 2024 final matchup versus England.

He is creating record after record but obviously, his main focus is to win his first-ever major trophy with the national team at just 17, which is insane for a youngster when you think about it. We have rarely seen players at the age of 17 winning some significant trophies with national teams and Yamal will be hoping to do so today.

England star Kobbie Mainoo creating his own wave at Euro 2024

It took Gareth Southgate some time to recognise that Mainoo is the ideal midfield partner for Declan Rice for England. And ever since he has started alongside Rice, the England midfield has played fluid football.

At these Euros, Southgate tested Trent Alexander-Arnold before trying Conor Gallagher. But now everyone knows, including the England head coach, you can’t ignore the Manchester United prodigy.

It hardly matters how old and inexperienced Mainoo is, as his performances are much beyond his years already. It seems like nothing bothers him at all because he is aware that he belongs at this level.

He is competing in his first European Championship final as a teenager on Sunday. Both these teenage superstars of their respective teams aren’t in the slightest bit intimidated by the magnitude of the event.
