Lamine Yamal sets new LaLiga record that even Ronaldo & Messi failed to achieve

Even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo failed to win Player of the Month three times in a single season. But Lamine Yamal became the only player in LaLiga history to do so.
Yamal won the award for April in addition to his victories in November and December of 2025. This is despite now having to accept a season-ending injury. In his final act of the season, the young sensation scored his 16th league goal this season, more than any of his teammates.
He also has a division-high 11 assists. It is anticipated that Lamine Yamal will win the seasonal award in May due to his dominance in the monthly awards and Barcelona’s anticipated title victory.
Nobody has experienced a degree of dominance comparable to Lamine Yamal since LaLiga began awarding monthly moments of recognition 15 years ago.
This was a specific award that strangely eluded Ronaldo. Real Madrid’s record goalscorer was named Player of the Month only three times (November 2013, May 2015, and May 2017).
However, it should be noted that this title was first formally established by Spain’s top flight in 2013, missing four years of Ronaldo’s outstanding performance at the club.
With a hat-trick of awards this season and another one from September 2024, Lamine Yamal has already surpassed Ronaldo in terms of all-time monthly awards. This teenager can still equal Messi (and Antoine Griezmann) in this area, though.
