Lamine Yamal to wear No10 for Spain against Denmark & Serbia

Yamal wears No.19 for club FC Barcelona.
Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal is set to don No.10 at the back of his Spain team shirt in their game against Denmark and Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.
Wearing the No.10 shirt will be a big moment for the forward given the importance of the number as it has been worn by many great players. However, it is the first time Yamal will wear that number even his number in Barcelona is 19.
The Barca academy player was expected to get the No.10 at the club as well but the board decided to hand the 17-year-old No.19 instead The board felt the No.10 would put the player under immense pressure.
Lionel Messi took the number (10) from Ronaldinho and went on to don that special number throughout his time at Barcelona. During that time Messi became one of the greatest players of the club.
After his exit, the number was entrusted to Ansu Fati. It was unfortunate that he couldn’t live up to that number & its expectations with his performance. However, Fati still wears that number. But it shouldn’t be long to see a new face get hold of No. 10 given how Lamine Yamal has been Barcelona’s most decisive player at just 17.
However, currently, it remains to be seen when Yamal will finally inherit the No.10 at Barcelona. For now, he will have the honour of wearing it for the national team.
The 17-year-old guided Spain to Euro 2024 and was pivotal in every game as they lifted the trophy, beating England 2-1 in the final. Now expect him to once again play a pivotal role in La Roja’s upcoming games against Denmark and Serbia.
Meanwhile, for Barcelona this season the forward has notched up five assists and four goals in just nine games. He continues to make a mark at the club while the Catalan club occupy first place in LaLiga table.
