Lamine Yamal looks all set to conquer the world of football with his national side. He has set his sights on winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held next year.

The forward inspired Spain to the Euro 2024 when they beat England 2-1 in the final. Yamal was crucial in helping La Roja to finally end their international trophy drought.

He also took the centre stage during Spain’s run to the UEFA Nations League final this year. However, in that tournament, they succumbed to Portugal on penalties. Spain have displayed their dominance on the international stage once again, and Yamal has been at the forefront of that success.

Now, the only trophy left to win for the forward is the World Cup, and Lamine Yamal is determined to lead the La Roja to exactly that type of glory. When he was asked during a press conference in China about his next big goal, he simply said:

Spain‘s last win in the FIFA World Cup was in 2010. Since then, they have struggled to reach deep into the tournament and have lost to nations in the competition who were ranked lower than them.

Now, their rise to dominance has been aided by the crop of a new generation who have shaped the team into a competitive side. We have already seen them lead to success, as evident by the Euro 2024 trophy last year.

Moreover, the inclusion of Yamal in the squad has not only helped the national team but also made them among the favourites whenever they compete in a tournament.

He has set such a high standard for the national team that they are now seen as one of the best national teams in major competitions. The upcoming World Cup will be a great opportunity for them to achieve immortality.
