Barcelona star Lamine Yamal vows to win several Ballon d'Ors & follow in Lionel Messi's footsteps

The Spanish forward is one of the frontrunners to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Lamine Yamal, FC Barcelona sensation, has revealed he aspires to win several Ballons d’Or as Lionel Messi did during his time at the club.

Following an outstanding 2024-25 season for both club and nation, Yamal is one of the favourites to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. As the Catalan powerhouses won LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, Yamal was a vital member of Hansi Flick’s team.

Yamal would become the youngest player to ever get the coveted Golden Ball if he were to win it in 2025. PSG star Ousmane Dembele, who assisted the French team in winning their first Champions League trophy as part of an incredible treble, is the current favourite to win the award, though.

In a recent podcast talking about the Ballon d’Or, Yamal revealed he hopes to emulate Barcelona great Lionel Messi and win the award for the greatest player in the world several times.

Yamal hopes to win many Ballon d’Ors in future

He stated on the Resonancia de Corazon podcast, hosted by Jose Ramon de la Morena:

“I don’t dream of winning one Ballon d’Or, but I dream of winning many of them. I believe I am a player capable of achieving that, and if I don’t achieve it, it will be because I didn’t do things the right way, not because I didn’t want to. So, I dream of having many of them, and when the day comes that I get there, I will be very happy, but I will keep winning more and winning with my team and everything.”

On September 22, a gala in Paris will reveal the Ballon d’Or winner. Prior to that, Yamal will play in LaLiga with Barcelona on Sunday against Valencia, following the international break.
