Lionel Messi gets new haircut ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026 clash vs Austria

Lionel Messi has scored 16 goals in 27 appearances at the FIFA World Cup.
Defending champions Argentina have had a brilliant start to their FIFA World Cup campaign. They defeated Algeria 3-0 in their opening fixture, thanks in part to Lionel Messi, who scored his first-ever hat-trick in the summer competition.
With the hat-trick, the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward has equalled the all-time record for highest goals scored in the men’s FIFA World Cup by Germany’s Miroslav Klose. The former German forward scored 16 goals in four World Cup campaigns; however, Messi is currently playing his sixth.
Messi also holds the record for the most appearances in the tournament, 27, and has won the most games as captain at the World Cup.
Regarding the ongoing campaign, Argentina will face Austria in their second group stage game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game will be played on Monday, June 22, at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas. A win over Das Team will confirm La Albiceleste’s position in the knockout stage of the summer competition.
However, before the game, Lionel Messi decided to get a fresh look by getting a new haircut.

Pictures of Lionel Messi’s new haircut have started surfacing on social media. In the picture, the Argentine superstar can be seen sitting with the barber’s cloth while his La Albiceleste and Inter Miami teammate Rodrigo de Paul is standing in the background.
Messi has often experimented with his hair. In 2016, the former Barcelona star decided to go blonde, showing up with completely bleached hair and a full dark beard. He later let the blonde hair grow out naturally. Later, for some time, he decided to stay clean-shaven, much like the earlier years of his professional career between 2010 and 2013.
Meanwhile, during the formative years of his professional career, the Argentine playmaker used to keep longer hair, but he never replicated the same hairstyle.
