The Argentine forward left the club in 2021.
Lionel Messi made a secret visit to Camp Nou, the stadium where he established himself as the greatest player of all time. On Instagram, the Argentine visited the renovated Camp Nou and uploaded an emotional message.
Ever since his exit from the club, the relationship between Messi and the club’s board has severed, despite their efforts to bring the player back to the team.
Due to their financial condition, Barcelona failed to bring Messi back in 2023, which prompted him to join MLS side Inter Miami. However, there are always rumours of Messi returning to Barcelona, but given that the Argentine is in his latter stages of his career, a full-time return seems difficult now.
However, Lionel Messi still hopes that he might be able to return to the club one day and receive the farewell he always expected in a fully packed Camp Nou.

“Last night, I returned to a place that I miss with all my soul. A place where I was immensely happy, where you made me feel a thousand times like the happiest person in the world. I hope that one day I’ll be able to come back, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I was never able to do!”
Despite his shocking departure from the club, it is expected that the club will try everything in their power to bring him back, but their financial troubles forced them to pull out, and the Argentine never actually got the farewell he always deserved.
