This is the opening game of Group F.

Led by Ronald Koeman, the Netherlands national football team made things tougher for Japan with each passing minute during their first group stage game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The entertaining match started with the Samurai Blue putting pressure on the Dutch. Both nations put in equal efforts during the first half of the game. The course of the fixture changed at the start of the second half.

The Oranje broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, but just after six minutes, the Japan national football team equalised. The intensity of the game kept increasing. Neither of these sides were backing down, but the Netherlands took the lead after Crysencio Summerville found the back of the net in the 64th minute. This shifted the momentum towards Ronald Koeman’s men.

The Hajime Moriyasu are were now under a sudden pile of pressure and were looking to get back in the game. Daichi Kamada came to the rescue and scored the equaliser in the 89th minute.
