La Roja are the reigning European Champions!

Spain will be keen to repeat the heroics of their golden generation when they went on to win the FIFA World Cup 2010 as Euro winners. It has been sixteen years since Spain has been waiting to bring the World Cup back home.

No wonder, they are arguably one of the most feared teams in Europe after they went on to dominatingly win the Euro 2024.

After Luis Enrique’s departure, Luis De La Fuente took over the reins and has massively impressed in his first major tournament after becoming the coach. He has risen from the bottom, unlike former high-profile Spanish coaches, and has worked with the youth teams of Spain before being appointed the head coach of the Spanish senior national team.

There is a lot of excitement building around who will make it to the World Cup squad for Spain, especially after Barcelona midfielder Fermen Lopez’s injury made things even more difficult for Luis De La Fuente.

Who are the favourites to be included in Spain’s squad?

David Raya is expected to be between the sticks alongside Unai Simon of Athletic Bilbao. The former is on the verge of winning two major trophies with Arsenal before heading to the World Cup.

Defenders like Pau Cubarsi, Marc Cucurella and Marcos Llorente are expected to make it to the final squad, whereas the midfield will feature some world-class players like Rodri, Pedri, Fabian Ruiz and Martin Zubimendi from Arsenal.

The attacking unit will see Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo. Most of them impressed a lot in Euro 2024 and will be keen to score a lot of goals in the FIFA World Cup 2026. While Nico Williams is a doubt due to an injury.
