The Egyptian is currently enjoying one of the best seasons at the club.

According to reports, Liverpool are now nearing an agreement on a new contract with the club’s talisman, Mohamed Salah.

All sides are still in the midst of negotiations and have not yet achieved a final agreement, but according to sources, the club has made good strides and is optimistic that a deal will be struck.

Since Saudi Arabian clubs are eager to sign the Egyptian international, there has been some ambiguity regarding Salah’s future since his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

However, the recent developments have given Anfield optimism that Salah will stay with the Premier League team longer.

Since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2017, Salah has been a vital member of the squad, and with 32 goals in all competitions this season, he has been instrumental in the team’s run for the championship.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future is less definite, though, as the right-back is negotiating a free transfer to Spain prior to the upcoming campaign with Real Madrid.

Salah has become a Liverpool legend in his eight seasons with the team. He scored in the Champions League final in 2019 and was instrumental in ending the team’s 30-year league title drought the following season.

However, the Egyptian entered the last months of his current deal with seemingly no progress on a new agreement, even though he had perhaps the best season of his career and had frequently stated his wish to continue at Anfield.

Salah told Sky Sports that this is his “last year” after scoring in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United in September and that he had not received a call regarding a new deal.

A month later, he indicated a deal was “far away” after telling reporters in November that he was “probably more out than in” at Liverpool.

The persistent rumours haven’t had much of an effect on his performance as Salah, 32, has scored 27 goals and provided 17 assists in 31 Premier League games this season, putting Liverpool on the verge of winning another league title.
