Liverpool identify Real Madrid star as Luis Diaz replacement: Report

The Reds will look to supplant Colombian with Rodrygo.

Liverpool have identified a replacement for Luis Diaz, but will only be able to sign the player if they offload the Colombian winger by the end of the summer transfer window, according to L’Equipe.

The Reds are hopeful of replacing Diaz with Real Madrid ace Rodrygo, as they have also expressed interest in signing the Brazilian winger previously.

Liverpool moving quickly to bolster their attack

The Premier League giants are also on the verge of completing the acquisition of French striker Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt, underlining the club’s ambitions to reinforce their attacking firepower for the upcoming season.

Now they could set their sights on bringing another talented forward to the club. However, the Brazilian’s arrival will only depend on the exit of Diaz. Bayern Munich and clubs from the Saudi Pro League are in the race to bring the forward with Liverpool demanding €100m for the 28-year-old.

The Premier League club have already turned down Bayern’s initial bid for Diaz as they have stood firm in their demand for his established price.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid remains unclear as the player has insisted on staying at the club, but his minutes on the pitch could be reduced with Kylian Mbappe, Arda Guler and Vinicius Junior being the forefront of the club’s project and attacking lineup under Xabi Alonso.

Madrid set asking price for the Brazilian

This puts Rodrygo’s game time in jeopardy, and he might have to look for a club if he wants to continue playing regular football. On the other hand, the Spanish club are open to selling him if they receive a fee in the region of €100m (£85m).

So far, no club has considered making any offer, but the Reds could break their bank once Diaz’s departure is confirmed, as Arne Slot’s side has made many big signings this summer window, and could add the Brazilian to the list.
