Liverpool injury news for Manchester City clash; Trent Alexander-Arnold 'sufficiently' fit for Premier League matchday 13

The Reds could miss two players against defending champions City.

With an incredible win over Real Madrid, Arne Slot’s stellar start to his career at Liverpool is up and going. The Reds are cruising into the second of two crucial games at Anfield this week.

At this early stage in the Premier League season, Liverpool have the opportunity to move 11 points clear of Pep Guardiola’s defending champions when they play Manchester City at Anfield.

Liverpool injury update ahead of Manchester City clash

Liverpool have a growing list of injuries compared to Manchester City, who are currently struggling without their key man Rodri in all the competitions.

Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota, and Alisson Becker are still out. Federico Chiesa may not be prepared to participate because he is still getting to full fitness. The Italian will be among the substitutes even if he is cleared to play.

The Reds could miss Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate, though it remains to be seen before the game as they might be deemed fit to face City on Sunday.

Bradley and Konate’s injuries were the only negative aspect of Liverpool’s match versus Real Madrid. Prior to the City game, Slot stated that Konate’s remaining down at full-time was “not a good sign,” but both players will still be evaluated.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is now sufficiently fit to start, Slot revealed yesterday in his pre-game press conference. However, there has been no definite information on Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley, who are now out due to injuries against Real Madrid. Although Alexander-Arnold’s return lessens the urgency of the defensive duo’s availability, they still will hope to play this weekend.

In other news, Caoimhin Kelleher will stay in goal following yet another outstanding performance in which he stopped Kylian Mbappe’s penalty against Real Madrid. Kostas Tsimikas, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota, and Alisson Becker are still out, as already mentioned. Luis Diaz may be replaced by Cody Gakpo as a forward for Liverpool.
