Wirtz will miss the upcoming game.

Liverpool will return to action tonight when they face Wolves in a Premier League fixture, but they will be without some key starters ahead of the game.

The Reds approach their subsequent visits to Wolves with a mix of assurance and anxiety. A thrilling 5-2 victory at West Ham reduced the gap to Aston Villa and restored momentum, rekindling hopes for a top-four finish. Beneath the surface, however, Florian Wirtz, Isak, and Endo’s availability poses a challenge to Liverpool’s spring storyline.

Since withdrawing from the starting lineup against Nottingham Forest on February 22 due to pain during the warm-up, Florian Wirtz has not played. What seemed preventative at first has persisted longer than expected.

Arne Slot provides Florian Wirtz and Isak injury update

Following the West Ham triumph, Arne Slot acknowledged that the trip to Wolves on Tuesday might come too soon.

“I think that [Tuesday’s game] will be too early,” he said. “But I said last week I didn’t expect him not to be available for today, so sometimes things can develop in a positive or negative way in an injury, now we are thinking it doesn’t have to be too long, but Tuesday will probably be too early. “The week after will be tight as things stand now.”

Nearly three months have passed since the club’s record summer acquisition, Alexander Isak, last played, suffering a fibula fracture and an ankle injury while scoring in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham on December 20. Surgery came quickly after. Rehabilitation has been intentional. Slot expressed cautious optimism.

“It will be somewhere around there [the March international break] and then it’s always the question if things go really well or if he gets a little bit of a setback. So, it will be around that period of time – end of March, start of April when he’s hopefully back with the group.”

Slot on Frimpong

“I don’t think the only position we struggled was the right full-back position,” Slot told his pre-Wolves press conference on Monday morning.

“I think it has been in more positions, but right full-back is probably the one that stands out most. Having Jeremie back is really nice but [managing his minutes] does go through your mind.

“Because of the fact we play three games in seven days. Because we play Galatasaray [at Anfield] and have the early kick-off afterwards in Brighton.

“Those things you all have to take into account, especially with players who come back from injuries. But we also know the importance of every single game. That is a challenge the performance staff, the player himself, the manager has.

“But I’m not the only one who has that. I prefer to have this problem – to manage how many minutes I have to give him – than to see him with the medical staff doing his recovery.”

Endo set for a long spell on the sidelines

The circumstances facing Wataru Endo are more depressing. The Japan international had a catastrophic foot injury that required surgery on February 11 after being stretched off during a rare Premier League start against Sunderland. Slot did not reveal the gravity of the injury.

“Wata will be out for a long time,” he conceded. “We don’t know exactly how long – but long.”

How long will Florian Wirtz be out?

He could be back next week.

When will Isak return?

He might return by the end of March.

Where do Liverpool stand in the PL table?

They are fifth in the table.
