Liverpool set to kick start their new era under Dutch manager Arne Slot.

Premier League juggernauts Liverpool are set to kick off their first pre-season tour after the end of the nine-year Jurgen Klopp era at the club as they prepare for the upcoming 2024–25 season.

In Klopp’s farewell campaign last season, Liverpool clinched the Carabao Cup, defeating Chelsea 1-0 in the final. The Reds were on the course of an unprecedented quadruple trophy charge, but a mid-season collapse crushed their dreams altogether. However, Liverpool finished in a respectable third place in the Premier League, securing Champions League football in the process after a year-long hiatus.

With a newly formed football structure at Liverpool led by the experienced duo of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, Dutch manager Arne Slot was viewed as the ideal candidate to guide the club into its new era.

The Reds are yet to make a signing this transfer window, with smart, valuable recruitment being the club’s primary transfer approach instead of shelling out big-money signings. With rival teams bolstering their squads with multiple signings, the Liverpool fan base seemed worried by their club’s lack of transfer activity.

Another agenda high on Liverpool’s to-do list for this summer is to extend the expiring contracts of their star players, such as Trent Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah, who all have just a year left on their current deals.

Prior to their official pre-season tour, the Reds have already competed in a behind-closed-doors fixture against Championship team Preston. Even though they lost the match 1-0, Arne Slot was impressed with the team’s overall performance, as almost 25 Liverpool players featured over the two halves of action.

For the first time since 2019, Liverpool are set to travel to the United States for their pre-season tour. During this period, they are scheduled to play three matches.

Liverpool will commence their pre-season tour against La Liga side Real Betis in their opening match. Their following two fixtures are against familiar foes. In the second game, Arne Slot’s side will face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in an exciting contest in Philadelphia.

To conclude their tour, the Reds will lock horns with their fierce rivals, Manchester United, in Columbia. After their return from the United States, Liverpool will play their last pre-season fixture at Anfield against yet another Spanish outfit, Sevilla, to complete their pre-season preparations.

Arne Slot’s first official game as Liverpool manager will be against newly promoted side Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
