Liverpool record signing Alexander Isak’s match fitness under scrutiny ahead of possible debut againt Burnley in Premier League

The Sweden international participated in the Reds’ training ahead of the game.
Alexander Isak may make his Liverpool debut when they travel to Burnley in the Premier League this weekend. But his former manager Eddie Howe did cautioned his match fitness before the record transfer.
A summer-long drama came to an end as the Swedish player left Newcastle on transfer deadline day in a record deal. During the September international break, the 25-year-old striker made his first appearance since the final day of the 2024-25 campaign, coming on as a substitution for the last eighteen minutes of Sweden’s 2-0 loss to Kosovo.
Isak, who was eager to leave Newcastle in the summer, chose not to go on a tour and missed the team’s preseason match against Celtic. He had previously trained alone at his former club, Real Sociedad, while his colleagues were in Asia, and he did it again when the Magpies returned to Tyneside.
Is Alexander Isak not fully fit to make his debut for Liverpool against Burnley?

Newcastle officials were worried about Isak’s lack of fitness, but they had a plan for the forward if he had remained at St. James’ Park.
They expected him to return to his peak performance following the October international break.
Speaking just before Isak joined Liverpool, Howe acknowledged in unpublished statements that the forward’s lack of match fitness was a concern.
Given that Arne Slot has an excellent Hugo Ekitike available for the No. 9 position, it appears doubtful that Isak would start at Turf Moor. However, Liverpool supporters would be thrilled to see Isak come off the bench in the game’s final minutes.
After his disjointed pre-season, Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson also revealed that he had no plans to “do stupid things” with Isak.
After completing his transfer to Liverpool, the forward himself also admitted that it would take some time for him to get back to his best. But he did look strong in finishing in his first training session with the Reds.
Will Isak make his debut for Liverpool against Burnley?
