Liverpool maintain top spot in Premier League with dominant 6-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur

The Reds displayed an excellent attacking performance against the Spurs.
Liverpool ran riot at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they beat Spurs 6-3 and maintained their top spot in the Premier League. The Reds were first to open the scoring in the 23rd minute of the game through Luiz Diaz. The visitors continued their attacking intent and finally doubled their lead through Alexis Mac Allister who headed the loose ball home in the 36th minute.
However, the home team managed to pull one up through James Maddison in 41 minute as the optimism in the game for a comeback was restored by the hosts.
But any hopes of a comeback were further dented by Liverpool when they went into rampant mode when Dominik Szoboszlai gave a two-goal cushion to the Reds in a counterattack in the 46th minute.
Arne Slot’s side continued their impressive performance in the second half as they diminished Spurs’ hope of any comeback when Mohamed Salah scored his first goal of the evening in the 54th minute. He added another goal to his Premier League tally in the 61st minute and it appeared the game is over for Spurs.
However, there was more to come as it seemed like a goal galore game when Dominik Solanke found the back of the net in the 81st minute but any expectation of a comeback was far from away, although Spurs hoped to push for more goals.
But once again Liverpool’s attack stepped up and scored the sixth goal of the evening when Luiz Diaz squared the ball and secured his brace in the 85th minute.
Liverpool wrapped up the game with a brilliant attacking performance and remain top of the table with a four-point lead over Chelsea, who drew against Everton.
Liverpool will next return to action on Thursday when they will host Leicester City, while Tottenham will take on an in-form Nottingham Forest on Thursday lunchtime.
