[WATCH] Luis Enrique grabs Chelsea's Joao Pedro by neck; triggers brawl after defeat in Club World Cup final

The Spanish manager lost his cool after the final whistle.

As tensions erupted at the conclusion of the 2025 Club World Cup final, PSG manager Luis Enrique seemed to grip Chelsea forward Joao Pedro’s neck and push him to the ground.

Chelsea shocked the European champions by defeating them 3-0 in the final in New Jersey. João Pedro and Cole Palmer both scored goals before halftime.

Following Marc Cucurella’s hair being pulled by Joao Neves, PSG ended the match with ten men. After the final whistle, players from both teams battled in the middle of the field, causing tensions to rise.

Before being dragged away from the scene, Luis Enrique seemed to hurl his left hand at João Pedro’s face, forcing the Brazilian forward to the ground.

“I don’t need to say about them because it’s normal,” Joao Pedro said post-match.

“Everyone wants to win the game and in the end I think they lose their heads.

“But this is football, this is happening. Now you need to enjoy because you won the tournament, that’s it. I don’t want to talk too much about them because you know how it works. Football is this.”

With US President Donald Trump in attendance, it was a crazy conclusion to an occasion that FIFA, the world governing body, had been anxious to make unforgettable.

Kickoff was delayed due to an overrun pre-match program that featured Robbie Williams’ performance and a flyover by the US Air Force, but Chelsea had the game virtually decided when Doja Cat evened up at halftime.

Following the final whistle, Chelsea’s team and staff flocked to the field to celebrate, and Luis Enrique, the manager of PSG, got caught up in the heated altercation with Pedro.

According to reports, Enrique might receive a minimum three-game suspension for striking João Pedro following the Club World Cup final. However, the ban can be much longer and depends on the authorities’ overhearing the case.
