Luka Modric snubs Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi from his six-a-side team

The Croatian has played with the Portuguese megastar at Real Madrid.
Luka Modric chose his final six-a-side lineup without Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Modric, a seasoned midfielder from Croatia, will always be remembered as one of the greatest of his generation.
After establishing himself in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid reportedly paid £30 million to sign him in 2012.
The midfielder has since played 563 matches for Los Blancos in all competitions, tallying 41 goals in those games. In addition, Modric has played alongside some of the top football players in the world, such as Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and Ronaldo.
Modric ignored Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when he was asked to select his ideal six-a-side team. Having played with the Spaniard 63 times, Modric chose to start with Madrid great Iker Casillas as the goalkeeper.
He told icons.com: “It’s [a] difficult choice but for me, it’s easy because I played with him, it’s Iker. And not just because he played with me, but he’s one of the best ever.”
Moving onto defenders, Modric had to pick two players, he said: “For me, I will choose Roberto Carlos, maybe [the] best left-back ever.
“Here, it’s between [Fabio] Cannavaro and [Paolo] Maldini. Cannavaro, Golden Ball, everything, world champion. But I go with Maldini.”
In midfield, Modric mentioned the likes of Andres Iniesta, Roberto Baggio and David Beckham, before making his final pick.
Modric said: “It’s very hard with only two midfielders allowed to make it into his team. I cannot mistake a lot, but for me [Diego] Maradona and Zizou [Zinedine Zidane]. Even all these are top but I will choose these two.”
Finally, Modric chose Brazilian superstar Ronaldo Nazario as his attacker above Ronaldo and Messi.
He explained: “For me, between [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Ronaldo. I played with one, but this one [the latter] was my favourite growing up. I fell in love with his game and… wow. And others are also… Romario, Messi, Pele, but I go with Ronaldo. Sorry Cris!”
