One of the Red Devils fans was stabbed by a home supporter.

In a horrific incident, Manchester United fans were attacked by a horde of Fenerbahce ultras in Istanbul on Wednesday night ahead of the club’s clash against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League.

A video has surfaced on the internet which was released after United fans were attacked by the ultras. One of the Man United fans said that they were swarmed by a total of 50 hooligans while another fan was hit by a crowbar.

The recording confirms that the attack was made by the Fenerbahce fans outside the place of Grand Hisar Hotel, a few kilometres away from where the Leeds United fans were stabbed by Galatasaray hooligans in 2000 before a UEFA Cup semi-final match.

The footage of Man United fans being attacked by the ultras was proudly shared by the hooligans on their social media account with the caption ‘This is Istanbul’.

An anonymous Instagram account posted a video of a person on a bike with the caption, ”On the first punch of a fight… Manchester is now truly RED : ).”

United landed in Turkey on Wednesday night to face Jose Mourinho‘s side Fenerbahce. Things quickly went sour when their fans were assaulted by the Fenerbahce’s ultras.

“About 50 of them swarmed us (a group of five). One lad followed me down a street and pretended to help before hitting me a shot into the jaw,” one supporter told popular United fans website StrettyNews.

The attack on United fans has been led by the GFB Bogaz Hooligans group, who released the video of the away fans being attacked and getting stabbed.

Sharing the message and the video, the hooligans wrote: “A response has been given to the traitors who insulted our religious and national values and gave us a position.”

This was one of the alarming incidents, and how the away fans were treated by home fans will certainly have consequences. Hopefully, UEFA and FIFA will look into the matter and implement harsh punishment on the Fenerhance ultras.
