Top three managers who can replace Paulo Fonseca at AC Milan
Milan are standing 10th in the Serie A table.
Paulo Fonseca’s future is already on a cliffhanger at AC Milan. The club have struggled to scrape out results under him. Their recent 3-1 defeat against Liverpool further exacerbated the situation. Now the Serie A club are already looking for a replacement in the market.
Fonseca was appointed AC Milan’s head coach this season but it seems like his time might be up way sooner than expected. If they suffer another defeat, with the next game being against local rivals Inter Milan, in their next game then that could be the final nail in the coffin. The pressure on the 51-year-old is at an all-time high. If he fails to lead AC Milan to victory in their next match then he could be shown the exit door.
In this piece we take a look at the top three managers who can replace Fonseca at AC Milan should the club decide to sack him.
3. Thomas Tuchel
Tuchel is currently without a job after departing from Bayern Munich. During his two seasons there, he won the Bundesliga and led them to the semi-final of the Champions League. Tuchel is certainly a versatile manager and can adapt to clubs from different leagues as evidenced by his time at PSG and Chelsea.
He led the Blues to a Champions League trophy in his first season as their coach and with PSG he led them to the final of the competition and won many league titles. He will be a good fit for AC Milan if they are looking for someone outside of Italy. He can transform them. The man can also quickly adapt to their culture and deliver results instantly.
2. Massimiliano Allegri
Massimiliano Allegri is also a good choice but he is a very adamant coach who doesn’t change his style of play if it’s not working. AC Milan seemingly need a different coach this time as under an Italian coach they have not had much success in past years. Their last league title came in the 2021–22 season.
But it’s time for them to start challenging in big European nights. Allegri, who is Italian, could be an ideal coach if they are to compete for the title as he boasts an excellent CV in Serie A. But his record in the Champions League final has not been satisfactory after leading Juventus to the final twice and losing both times.
1. Maurizio Sarri
Maurizio Sarri could be a good option. His tactical acumen makes him the most underrated manager in Italy. He can turn any side into a trophy contender team evidenced by his time at Lazio.
Milan can consider making the former Chelsea head coach as their next boss if they feel that Sarri can lead them to success. Sarri has achieved success with many clubs. AC Milan are among the top teams in Serie A, where Sarri can instil his philosophy and lead them to big achievements.
