The Cityzens are looking to make strategic investments in this summer transfer window.

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have already commenced their pre-season tour in the United States this summer in order to prepare for the upcoming 2024–25 season.

After recording their historic fourth consecutive Premier League title during the 2023-24 campaign, Manchester City are looking to make strategic recruitment this summer instead of the usual big-money signings. The Sky Blues have completed one permanent signing so far in the transfer window, which came in the form of the talented Brazilian winger Savinho. The 20-year-old forward joined from Ligue 2 outfit ESTAC Troyes on a five-year contract until June 2029.

Last season, Savinho enjoyed a breakout campaign at both club and international levels. While playing for Spanish side Girona on loan, Savinho made a staggering 41 appearances across all competitions, recording an incredible 11 goals and 10 assists in the process. His stellar performances guided the club to an unbelievable third-place finish in LaLiga, securing Champions League football for the upcoming season.

Owing to his amazing club campaign, Savinho earned a well-deserved call-up by manager Dorival Junior to represent Brazil in Copa America 2024. In his first major tournament for the national team, Savinho registered four appearances and also bagged a goal. The Brazilian forward’s incredible pace, intricate dribbling skills, and clinical finishing make him a sensational long-term signing for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Fullback João Cancelo and defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips have also returned to the club following the end of their loan spells at FC Barcelona and West Ham United respectively. However, both experienced players are expected to leave City on a permanent basis this summer. Several top clubs are interested in acquiring their services.

On the other hand, the Cityzens have generated reasonable revenue so far from certain outgoing transfers. This surely helps in order to comply with the stringent Profit and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League.

The biggest departure yet came in the form of talented centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Harwood-Bellis has joined Southampton on a permanent deal this summer after spending the last season on loan at the club in the EFL Championship.

After a trophy-filled two-year stint at City, versatile fullback Sergio Gómez departed the club to join LaLiga side Real Sociedad. This move will help him get more game time and develop his game even further. The 23-year-old left-back is currently representing Spain at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Following Tommy Doyle’s successful loan spell at Wolves last season, the club decided to trigger the buy option clause for the dynamic midfielder to make the move permanent.

After an incredible loan spell at Girona last season, talented Brazilian right-back Yan Couto is closing in on a permanent switch to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, with the deal in the advanced stages of negotiations.

With Manchester City still exploring the market in order to bolster the squad, further potential incomings and outgoings are expected in the remainder of the summer transfer window.
