Manchester City not considering move for Euro 2024 winner Dani Olmo: Reports
Spain star Dani Olmo won the Euro 2024 Golden Boot award.
Fabrizio Romano has denied the speculations of a Manchester City link with a move for Spanish star Dani Olmo. The RB Leipzig midfielder enjoyed an excellent Euro 2024 campaign, winning the competition with Spain, scoring three goals and additionally receiving the Golden Boot award.
However, Olmo wasn’t the starter for Spain in the competition as Pedri was ahead of him in the eyes of Luis de la Fuente’s first-choice preference. But ever since the injury to the Barcelona star in a game against Germany, he was sidelined for the remainder of the competition. It gave Olmo the chance to show his attributes in a team in place of Pedri.
Olmo didn’t disappoint and had an instant impact when he came as a substitute and scored an opening goal against the host nation, Germany, and further provided a winning assist to send Spain into the semi-final of the tournament.
His performance in the Euros has seen him attracting interest from several top clubs such as Manchester City, but Romano’s recent news which included rebuffing the rumours, gives other interested clubs an edge to sign the versatile forward.
What’s next for Olmo now?
The midfield player has been pursued by Arsenal and Liverpool. But, if they want to take him away from the Bundesliga side, they must first activate his £50 million release clause.
Olmo says he wants to win titles next season and this has assured his suitors that they can still pursue him. His release clause however remains active till July 20th.
Gianluca Di Marzio, a journalist for Sky Sports, has suggested that City were leading the battle to recruit him this summer, stating that Pep Guardiola’s team wants to finalize an agreement by July 16.
But now Romano’s news says otherwise. It will be interesting to see where Dani Olmo will play next, after capping an incredible Euro 2024 competition with Spain.
