The Brazilian has been linked with several clubs.

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has emerged as a top target for Manchester City’s mega project as they attempt to replace Jack Grealish.

Fabrizio Romano, the famous transfer journalist, claims that City are thinking about making a deal for Rodrygo. The Brazilian is apparently Pep Guardiola’s “dream target” for the Premier League‘s biggest club, with a possible transfer worth about €100 million (£87 million/$109 million).

This occurs while City are in the process of selling a number of players, such as Savinho, who has been the target of a Tottenham deal, and Grealish, who has been connected to a loan move to Everton.

Real Madrid star felt underappreciated

According to AS, Rodrygo felt underappreciated throughout the previous season and has not been a consistent starter under new manager Xabi Alonso during the Club World Cup and preseason, raising questions about his status at Real Madrid.

City want to balance the team and update their attacking alternatives, which is why they are interested in Rodrygo. Grealish, who joined City in 2021 and became the most costly British player ever, has had difficulty securing a consistent starting position and is vying for additional playing time before the World Cup.

The Brazilian would provide a tried-and-true alternative with Champions League-winning experience as a flexible attacker who can play throughout the front line. During the 2024–25 season, he made 30 league appearances for Real Madrid, tallying six goals and six assists.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Rodrygo has been instrumental in two Champions League victories and three LaLiga championships.

How much Real Madrid want for Rodrygo?

They value him at around €100 million.

When is the Brazilian’s deal expiring?

His Madrid deal will expire in 2028.

Is Rodrygo in Alonso’s plans for next season?

Alonso barely used the forward in the Club World Cup and is open to the player leaving the club, as per the reports.
