City will play their third FA Cup final in a row.

Under the famous arch of Wembley Stadium, Premier League teams Crystal Palace and Manchester City will face off in the 144th FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

The Cityzens are trying to win England’s most prestigious cup competition for the eighth time, while the Eagles are hoping to take home the most important prize in their 120-year professional club history.

City are no guests to this competition and are set to play the competition third time in a row after winning the tournament in the 2022-23 season. They lost to Manchester United in the 2023-24 season. This campaign, they will hope to lift the trophy for the second time in three years.

Since 2011, the Cityzens have competed at Wembley 30 times, at least seven more than any other team, proving that they have made Wembley their second home.

After defeating Salford City, Plymouth Argyle, Leyton Orient, and Bournemouth in the first four rounds, Pep Guardiola’s team advanced to the FA Cup semi-final for the seventh consecutive year at the end of last month. There they defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0.

Manchester City’s predicted lineup for the FA Cup final

Manchester City’s predicted lineup for the FA Cup final (4-3-2-1): Ederson (GK); Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Kovacic, Bernardo; Doku, De Bruyne, Marmoush; Haaland

Both Nico O’Reilly and Matheus Nunes, who have been City’s breakout stars in this competition with three goals and two assists in five appearances, might be called up by Guardiola to play as makeshift full-backs. Only Exeter City’s Josh Magennis (six) has helped to contribute more goals in the competition properly this season.

In his fourth and last FA Cup final with Man City, Kevin De Bruyne, who has an outstanding cup record, is probably going to start. The Belgian has contributed to four goals in his last three finals (one goal, three assists). Alongside De Bruyne in midfield, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, and Nico Gonzalez will compete for a starting position.

It looks like Haaland is destined to lead the attacking line. Erling Haaland, City’s leading goalscorer with 30 goals in 41 games across all competitions this season, has scored six goals in four games against Palace. However, he hasn’t found the net in any of his five Wembley appearances for the team, three of which have been in the FA Cup.
