The German star intends to join Bayern Munich.
It was revealed late last week that Florian Wirtz had decided that Bayern Munich would be his next club. At the end of last week, Christian Falk broke the news in an exclusive story for CF Bayern Insider. That news did hurt Manchester City’s efforts to bolster their midfield.
But according to the latest reports, Man City are set to rival Bayern for the signing of Wirtz this summer. City are looking for a replacement for the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne this summer.
According to Tavolieri of Sky Sports, talks between City and Bayer Leverkusen over a possible move of Florian Wirtz to the Premier League side have reached a verbal agreement. However, Tavolieri notes that in an attempt to outbid their rivals for Wirtz’s services, Bayern Munich have now presented the most alluring salary offer.
Bayern Munich have made the best salary offer to Florian Wirtz
Additionally, Bayern Munich’s offer to Wirtz exceeds the salary cap City typically places on new hires. Hence, this could cause a big issue for the Premier League club to outbid Bayern.
Following that, Bayern exerted pressure on Bayer Leverkusen through the German media, leading to numerous rumours claiming that Wirtz had selected Bayern Munich as his next club.
Alonso, meanwhile, is eager to take Florian Wirtz to Real Madrid. However, the LaLiga powerhouses are unwilling to cover Wirtz’s requested compensation. According to Tavolieri, City are still in the running to sign Wirtz, but Bayern Munich are reportedly making a lot of effort to do so.
Last week, it seemed as though Manchester City’s summer transfer plans had taken a serious hit. However, it now appears like City have a chance to sign Wirtz.
Bayer Leverkusen place €100 million price tag on Florian Wirtz
Wirtz would be sold by Leverkusen to a foreign team for €100 million. In order to sell Wirtz to Bayern Munich, they are requesting to play €150 million. That might work in Manchester City’s favour. But at whatever cost, Bayern Munich are committed to acquiring the German star this summer.
