Manchester City star Rodri opens up about possible move to Real Madrid

Rodri has been heavily linked with a move to Los Blancos.
Rodri Hernandez, an influential player for Manchester City and Spain, hasn’t done much to quell speculations of a possible transfer to Real Madrid, saying on Spanish radio that he would accept their offer if they made one. In an attempt to replace Toni Kroos in midfield, Los Blancos have been linked to a transfer for the Ballon d’Or winner.
Rodri’s contract expires in 2027, and there have been rumours since March of this year that Real Madrid are interested in signing him. To ensure their long-term future, Manchester City are trying to extend their contract.
“Obviously, when Real Madrid calls you, the best club in history and the most successful, with what it means, it is an honor. You always have to pay attention. That much is clear,” Rodri told Cadena SER.
Real Madrid may consider signing the Spain lynchpin if Rodri does not sign a new contract with City. But they are hopeful that the Premier League charges and possible punishment will pave the way for them to make a move for him.
Although City have always allowed players to leave the team if they do not want to continue, Rodri would put that notion to the test to the fullest. Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly try to retain the player that some consider to be their greatest.
Rodri speaks on Guardiola’s contract extension with City
Rodri also discussed Pep Guardiola‘s contract renewal, which was confirmed this week. Guardiola will remain at City for another two years.
“It is a joy that Pep has decided to continue. He is the most influential coach of my career. It is a joy for the club and for all the ‘citizens’. I know him and when I signed for them they told me that he was only going to be there for a few years and I was going to go, I already knew it wasn’t going to be like that.”
“Guardiola is similar to Simeone in how demanding they are and how much they love this sport,” he stressed.
