Berrada has provided some hope to Red Devils fans of their title charge.
Omar Berrada, the CEO of Manchester United, has reaffirmed the team’s three-year goal of lifting the Premier League by 2028.
Berrada also revealed that he sees Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in Ruben Amorim. He has given some optimism to the fans that their worst days are behind them as they hope for a fresh start from next season.
Putting a halt to United‘s annual decline since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement would be necessary to achieve that.
The Red Devils had their poorest Premier League season ever, ending in 15th place, four days after succumbing to Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao.
However, Omar Berrada maintained that part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s “Project 150” goal of winning the title again by the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2028 is more than simply an aspiration, even though the team finished 25 points nearer to the relegation zone (2024-25 season) than the Premier League summit last season (2023-24).
“Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028?” Omar Berrada to United We Stand. ”Naturally. I am convinced that we can succeed.”
Berrada has set a timeline for United’s Premier League title challenge
“We have two or three summer windows to build a team to start competing to win the Premier League. Nobody is saying we don’t want to win it until then. We’re setting ourselves a target with a specific time frame to go and aim for.
“It’s establishing a series of targets within a timeframe so we can focus our efforts and energy on that goal. We’ve just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?”
Berrada, who relocated to Manchester United at the beginning of 2024 after serving in a number of senior management capacities at the Etihad club for 13 years, used Guardiola’s debut season at City as justification for his support of Amorim.
Despite certain setbacks, such as a 4-0 thumping at Everton and a Champions League last-16 loss to Monaco, City finished third in 2016–17, 15 points behind winners Chelsea. Following that, it started City’s domination in the league as they won six titles in seven years.
