United want to add another No. 9 to their squad.

According to reports, Manchester United are considering a late summer trade of £50 million for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.

Before the start of the new season, Erik ten Hag’s team have seen a plethora of injuries. Rasmus Hojlund, a forward, will miss six weeks. It is because of a hamstring injury he suffered during a pre-season match against Arsenal.

United want more depth for the No. 9 role. We have seen them left with only Hojlund last term. For £32 million, United recently acquired the Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. But Ten Hag is concerned about how long it will take Zirkzee to become used to the demands of the English Premier League.

Ferguson has been seen as one of the most talented strikers in the league. The 19-year-old has long been of interest to the Red Devils. Chelsea have also expressed interest in him.

In an effort to keep Ferguson from being lured away by Premier League rivals, United want to sign him before the current transfer window ends at the conclusion of this month.

Ferguson’s skills will be well-known to Dan Ashworth, United’s new Sporting Director. He held the same position at Brighton when the goal scorer was acquired by the South Coast team from Bohemians three years prior.

Since then, Ferguson has grown into one of the most well-liked young players in the Premier League, even if an injury during the previous season halted his meteoric ascent.

The injury to Hojlund is apparently bolstering United’s ambition to bring the Seagulls striker to Manchester.

Ivan Toney, an England international valued at £60 million who plays for Brentford, was recently rumoured to move to Old Trafford. However, the report claims that the 28-year-old international does not meet the club’s new investment criteria, which prioritises younger players.
