Manchester United handed Cunha & Mount injury boost ahead of Chelsea game

Ruben Amorim has confirmed both are included in the squad for the next PL game.

Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha will return for Manchester United’s crucial match against Chelsea, according to Ruben Amorim.

With a dismal four points from their first four Premier League games and a disappointing Carabao Cup loss to Grimsby Town, the Red Devils have struggled to win matches.

Things have only got worse after their summer signing limped off in their third Premier League match. We are talking about Matheus Cunha, who had to come off with an injury.

Moreover, a similar issue occurred with Mason Mount, who once again sustained an injury after the Burnley game. He missed the match against Manchester City.

After pulling off in the first half against Burnley before the international break, Cunha missed United’s dismal performance in last Sunday’s 3-0 derby loss at Manchester City.

However, the club have been handed positive injury news ahead of their another big fixture in the Premier League. On Saturday, they go up against Chelsea.

Amorim’s side missed their two key players, and their absence was seen as United fared poorly against City, suffering an embarrassing 3-0 defeat. This has only mounted pressure on the former Sporting CP manager.

Amorim confirms Cunha and Mount are named in the squad

However, the return of both stars will be a major boost for the United squad. Amorim will hope to overturn the mood after confirming that they both are included in the team ahead of the game.

United boss Amorim said: “(Diogo) Dalot is out. Mason is in the squad and Cunha is in the squad. Licha (Lisandro Martinez) is still out.”

“(Tyrell Malacia) is returning to the contact with team-mates and the ball in the Under-21s and then we will see.”

Despite starting his first full season as the manager, things have not improved for Amorim. He continues to stick with his conservative approach, which has not yielded results, and the players have failed to adapt to that style.

It’s certain that he will use his same system, and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds. But the addition of Cunha and Mount will hopefully help the Red Devils enhance their performance after their defeat to Man City.
