Manchester United to decide Erik ten Hag's future after FA Cup final

United suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace
Notwithstanding the mounting pressure on Erik ten Hag following Monday night’s crushing loss at Crystal Palace, Manchester United plans to keep the manager prior to this month’s FA Cup final.
The 4-0 loss leaves United unable to make it to Europe the next season, and former players like Paul Scholes and Michael Owen have called for his immediate firing.
However, Mail Sport has learned that Ten Hag won’t be fired before United plays Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25 at Wembley.
With four games remaining until the season ends—three in the Premier League and the FA Cup final—it is thought that there will be little benefit to Ten Hag’s removal.
If Manchester United defeats City at Wembley, Erik ten Hag might feel that he can stay in charge for a third season, but the ultimate call will be made following that game.
After a disappointing season, a number of players are thought to believe that Ten Hag’s fate has already been decided.

Ten Hag will therefore be in the dug-out for the following three games: Sunday’s home game against title-chasing Arsenal, next week’s home game against in-form Newcastle United, and the final-day trip to Brighton.
Newcastle and Chelsea are competing against United to earn a spot in the Europa Conference League or the Europa League.
If they defeat City in the FA Cup final, they will also qualify for the Europa League, but they will start as clear underdogs.
The devastating loss at Selhurst Park on Monday, according to former United midfielder Scholes, felt like the “final nail in the coffin” for Ten Hag, who is now on “borrowed time” at Old Trafford.
He told Premier League Productions: ‘Tonight almost felt like a final nail in the coffin. There was a lack of know-how in the team, a lack of effort, going to a team like Crystal Palace, who to be fair are a good team and are doing well, but Manchester United shouldn’t be going there and losing 4-0.
