In 2023, the Red Devils even received a one-star rating out of five for their food hygiene.
Health inspectors discovered mouse droppings in multiple hospitality areas, further embarrassing Manchester United. It unwantedly earned the team a two-star sanitary rating.
The Red Devils have ended 15th in the Premier League table after a horrible season. They also lost their most crucial match of the season, losing to Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 in the Europa League final.
Ineos’ budget cuts, which have resulted in hundreds of job losses over the past few months, have also generated a lot of negative news headlines about the team.
The Athletic claims that the football team’s declining standards extend off the field.
According to the outlet, “Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium has been given a two-star food hygiene rating after mouse droppings were found in multiple hospitality areas.”
On April 16, the Trafford Council conducted an inspection and found that “significant work” had been done to address the rodent infestation at the location.
However, it discovered “that there were rodent droppings in seven different areas of the stadium, including the Devil’s Bar, the Number 7 Suite, and the Ambassador Lounge.” However, it should be noted that the kitchens and rooms used for food preparation were free of droppings. They use forklift trolleys to help move goods.
Regretfully, this was only one of the issues Manchester United will have to resolve in order to raise their grade going forward.
There were “open containers of condiments that exceeded the recommended label dates of the manufacturer’s instructions,” according to the investigation.
Additionally, many areas of the stadium lacked access to soap and hot water. The inspectors noted that the general cleanliness of the hospitality spaces was subpar.
Naturally, a club representative replied, “Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford. Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas and stringent measures are taken to ensure levels of hygiene and cleanliness are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served.”
After serving some visitors uncooked chicken in 2023, the club received the improbable rating of one out of five stars last season.
