The Red Devils continue to have a lot of players on the sidelines.

Following a busy festive fixture calendar, Manchester United are still dealing with many injury issues.

The Red Devils’ incredible eight-goal thriller against Bournemouth was followed by a loss to Aston Villa, a victory over Newcastle, and an extremely dismal home draw with Wolves, who were at the bottom of the standings.

Now they have drawn against Leeds to start the New Year. After Brenden Aaronson’s first goal, Matheus Cunha scored at Elland Road to salvage a point for the Red Devils.

Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo are still away at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Here are the most recent injury updates and return dates for Manchester United ahead of the Premier League clash Burnley:

Manchester United injury news & return dates

Bruno Fernandes

  • Potential return date: Wednesday, January 7, vs Burnley (A)

Since the 2-1 loss at Aston Villa before Christmas, when he was replaced at halftime due to a hamstring issue, Manchester United have been struggling without their captain.

The Portuguese has now missed the last three games. When asked about the midfielder’s return, Amorim said:

“I expect to have some minutes for Bruno and Mason Mount maybe, so we will see. They are players who are ready to help us.”

  • Potential return date: Wednesday, January 7, vs Burnley (A)

Mount last played in Boxing Day’s close victory over Newcastle at home and he was subbed at halftime due to an injury.

The former Chelsea midfielder had “felt something” that prompted his exit, according to Amorim, who believed the unidentified knock was merely a “small” issue.

Mount did not play against Wolves or Leeds, but the manager’s response after the Leeds United match seems to indicate that, like Fernandes, he is expected to return soon in the next match.

Kobbie Mainoo

  • Potential return date: Sunday, January 11, vs Brighton (H)

Like the rest of United’s injured group, Mainoo has not played since and was not anticipated to return for the trip to Leeds.

However, Amorim is yet to confirm when Kobbie Mainoo will return, but he should be back mid-January.

Matthijs de Ligt

  • Potential return date: Unknown

Last week, Amorim stated that De Ligt was “struggling a little bit” due to a back issue and did not participate in recent training. Although it is difficult to forecast the Dutchman’s specific return date, it appears likely at this point, unless more encouraging information becomes available.

Harry Maguire

  • Potential return date: Unknown

The 32-year-old was substituted in the 72nd minute due to a hamstring injury during the 2-2 draw against Tottenham on 8th November and has not featured ever since.

Similar to De Ligt, Amorim stated last week that Maguire was not prepared to return, and since then, no new information has been released, making it difficult to tell when he could play again.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Dalot, Heaven, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Ugarte; Dorgu, Fernandes, Cunha; Zirkzee
