The Red Devils have big injury woes heading into the Community Shield clash.

Manchester United are going to start the season against Fulham at home but before that, they are set to take on incumbent Premier League champions Manchester City in Community Shield. Despite coming eight in the league with one of their poorest finishes ever, the Red Devils managed to win the FA Cup the previous season. Their local rivals City, meanwhile, won the league championship for the fourth time in a row.

Erik ten Hag has managed to drive United to two trophies in his two seasons at the club but their performance has put doubts on the Dutch man’s coaching credentials if he is an ideal head coach to lead the club in future.

Following the end of the previous term, talks were going on that Ten Hag could be fired after Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a minority stake in the club and also revamped the United board.

But Ratcliffe decided to continue with the former Ajax manager and the club has already begun their summer business after signing two players. However, United are still far away from assembling a squad who can contend for titles and they are still in the market for more recruitments.

With pre-season over where United endured mixed results, they will now focus on Community Shield and below we take a look at United’s injury news ahead of the clash against City.

Manchester United are set to be without two key players, Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund as both suffered injuries during the pre-season. Yoro is expected to be out until November while the Danish striker will be sidelined till September.

However, the club has other doubts as Marry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are uncertain for the game. Malacia is still nursing a knee injury after he missed last season with the knee issue. Maguire will be assessed before the clash after he was absent against Liverpool.

Lindelof was replaced against Liverpool due to a minor injury hence he is also doubtful for the game against City. Shaw’s doubt will come as strange given he participated in the Euro 2024 final but when he joined United’s training ahead of the game he was deemed unfit and now he is likely to miss the Community Shield game.
