The Red Devils could welcome back their star centre-back soon.
Lisandro Martinez is getting closer to making a comeback after missing seven months due to an ACL injury. It is a much-needed boost for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
For the first time since February, the Argentine defender has returned to training, increasing expectations of a return following the international break.
Martinez had surgery shortly after rupturing his ACL against Crystal Palace in February. The centre-back posted a photo of himself on the training field wearing boots, marking a significant advancement in his recuperation. Returning for the Chelsea game on Saturday is too soon, but a return after the October international break is the goal.
Ruben Amorim is under intense criticism as a result of United’s dismal start; the team has only managed one league victory thus far.
His 3-4-3 system has apparently caused conflict among several players and has not produced the desired results. Martinez’s defensive prowess and leadership abilities may be crucial in stabilising a team that hasn’t kept a clean sheet this year.

Last November, Amorim took Erik ten Hag’s place, and he was heavily supported in the transfer market, spending £236 million on new players. Nevertheless, over a year later, United are still erratic and finding it difficult to adjust to the Portuguese coach’s methods.
Despite being one of Amorim’s biggest fans, Bruno Fernandes is reportedly uncomfortable with his more significant role.
Matheus Cunha injury update
As he recovers from his injuries, Matheus Cunha has made progress by starting one-on-one training sessions on indoor grass.
Recent evaluations suggest the setback is not as severe as initially thought, allaying initial worries about the problem’s seriousness.
Notwithstanding his development, the current strategy is to avoid hastening his comeback. Thus, he is not expected to play in Manchester United’s forthcoming matchup with Chelsea.
How long has Martinez been out?
He suffered an ACL injury in February.
How long does it take to recover from an ACL tear?
It takes 6 to 12 months after surgery and physical therapy for a full return to action.
Will Cunha return for the Chelsea game?
It is highly unlikely as United don’t want to rush him.
