During the 2023 ICC World Cup, famous England footballer David Beckham travelled to India as UNICEF’s peace representative.

At the Wankhede Stadium, the great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and the former Real Madrid player and Manchester United hero witnessed the ICC World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand. The English football hero met batting greats Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar during a three-day visit to India.

After becoming the centre of attention during the World Cup semifinals, Beckham, the former captain of Manchester United, spoke briefly with Kuldeep Yadav, the spin magician.

The experienced all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who plays for the Delhi Capitals, shared a little-known story about his encounter with Beckham. Kuldeep informed Beckham that after seeing Paul Scholes, he developed a passion for the Red Devils.

”I asked him about current state of Manchester United and their future plans we spoke about Newcastle team. he spoke less and slowly as he didn’t want people to hear him about team’s situation. According to Kuldeep, David Beckham said, “they are messed up because of the owners.”

‘I am a huge Gary Neville fan. I met him after the game (2023 WC against SL) and told him that I used to watch Manchester United because of Paul Scholes. I spoke a bit too directly (laughs). I also told him that I am a huge Gary Neville fan and requested him to let him know whenever he meets him. I told that after I finish my career I probably want to try being a football manager,” Kuldeep told Ashwin.

Kuldeep took 11 wickets in the World Cup for India the previous year. India finished the ICC event’s round-robin stage with a perfect 10 under Rohit Sharma’s direction. But India was defeated at home by Australia in the final.

Kuldeep told Ashwin in an interview on his channel on YouTube that he was inspired to become a fast-bowling specialist by Pakistani great Wasim Akram during the 2003 World Cup.
