Manchester United predicted lineup under Ruben Amorim
A new era kickstarts at Old Trafford under the Portuguese manager
Manchester United, one of the most successful clubs in the Premier League and around the world are set to embark on a new chapter under their new manager Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese, who has been dubbed the next special one is set to begin his reign at Manchester United after the November international break against Ipswich Town.
There is already a sense of belief and excitement around the team, fans, and hierarchy after his former team defeated rivals Manchester City recently during a UEFA Champions League clash. Having built a reputation as one of the exciting managers during his time with Sporting Lisbon in Europe, he is now set to implement his famous 3-4-3 formation to work the magic here at Old Trafford.
Let’s take a look at the players who are set to play a prominent role in this formation.
Manchester United’s predicted lineup
Formation: 3-4-3
Goalkeeper: Andre Onana
Andre Onana has been in excellent form for Manchester United this season defying the critics after delivering some top-notch performance between the sticks. This season he has kept 5 clean sheets in eleven games while also saving a penalty from the two he has faced. With Altay Bayindir not delivering the promise, Onana is set to be Amorim’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Right Centre-back: Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro has been unfortunate with injury this season but is back in the grass with the international break coming at the right time as he aims to return to his full fitness. Yoro is a promising defender who has already showcased his potential with Lille and is ready to embark on a new chapter in Ruben Amorim’s new-look side.
Centre-back: Matthijs De Ligt
Matthijs De Ligt is arguably one of the best defenders Manchester United have in their locker. After a slow start to the season, he is up and running putting a series of impressive performances from the back. If Ruben Amorim can unlock his potential which we saw a glimpse of during his Ajax days, then Manchester United will give a beast in their ranks.
Left Centre-back: Lisandro Martinez
Lisandro Martinez is a robust left-footed defender who is excellent at breaking the lines with his exquisite passing and doesn’t shy away from putting his body on the line. He has already established himself as a favourite among the United faithful who like the character he brings to the table. Expect him to be the aggressor under Amorim who likes to build play from the back.
Right Wing-back: Noussair Mazraoui
After signing alongside Matthijs De Ligt in a double deal from Bayern Munich, many would have thought of the impact he would have on this team. First forward to the starting games, he has looked like a top defender who is equally good on both sides of the play which will surely make him a favourite for this spot.
Central Midfielder: Kobbie Mainoo
Kobbie Mainoo has been a revelation of the Red Devils ever since breaking into the side. Despite being 19 years old, he has emerged as a calm and composed player who is technically brilliant and keeps things neat in the middle of the park which will surely encourage Amorim to build his team around him.
Central Midfielder: Manuel Ugarte
Summer signing Manuel Ugarte will be one of the beneficiaries with the appointment of Amorim, with whom he enjoyed great success at Sporting Lisbon. After a tough start, United faithful will be hoping he can replicate the form that got him the hype as the midfield destructor.
Left wingback: Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw has been a big miss for Manchester United in the opening games of the season after suffering from injury. With him nearing full fitness, it will be a big boost for Amorim as Shaw is one of the best in the business when he is injury-free.
Right Winger: Bruno Fernandes
One of the decisions the new manager will have is to find the best position for Bruno Fernandes who has been in scintillating form in the post Erik ten Hag era under Ruud van Nistelrooy. Known for tirelessly working and also being the creative force of this team, Fernandes will be given the role to lead this team under his new boss.
Striker: Rasmus Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund has been a hit-and-miss for the Red Devils who was signed for the long term. But time is running out for the young Danish striker who will have to start scoring goals regularly with Joshua Zirkzee lurking in the corner. Hojlund’s pace and physical prowess in the final third give him the upper hand for now.
Left winger: Marcus Rashford
Another player who will be aiming to kick start his season is Marcus Rashford who has struggled to score goals this season despite showing flashes of brilliance. This season, he has only one league goal to his name from 11 games which is a poor record for a goal scorer of his calibre. Hopefully, we can see the real Rashford in the upcoming games.
