Manchester United predicted lineup vs Athletic Bilbao for Europa League 2024-25 semi-final second leg

The Red Devils will host the Spanish side on Thursday night.
After winning 3-0 in the semi-final first leg match at San Mamés last week against Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United have a chance to go to the UEFA Europa League final. This tournament is the Red Devils’ final opportunity to take home a trophy and earn a spot in Europe the following season after a dismal Premier League campaign.
Despite scoring three goals over the weekend, they lost to Brentford in the league for the sixteenth time this season. Ruben Amorim’s team is aware that they must contain the opposition in order to advance to the Europa League final.
Before Thursday’s second leg, Manchester United can take solace in the fact that 133 clubs have advanced to the next round after winning the first leg of a Europa League/UEFA Cup knockout match by three goals or more away from home.
Since their 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in September 2022, the Red Devils have also won all 11 of their Europa League games at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils won’t have to do much and will only have to protect their lead going into this match. Amorim will thoughtfully come up with a lineup that gets the job done for the club and sends them to the final of the competition.
Manchester United predicted line-up vs Athletic Bilbao
Manchester United predicted lineup (3-4-2-1): Onana; Lindelof, Maguire, Yoro; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dorgu; Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund
Manchester United are worried about Matthijs de Ligt’s fitness after he was substituted out due to a muscle issue during the Brentford loss. The Dutchman and Toby Collyer (leg) will be evaluated prior to kickoff, while Lisandro Martinez (knee), Joshua Zirkzee (thigh), Diogo Dalot (calf), and Ayden Heaven (ankle) are all set to miss the game.
Rasmus Hojlund will likely be back up front, with the leader Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho supporting him in attack. Last weekend, Chido Obi-Martin (17 years, 156 days) became the youngest player in Man United’s history to start in the Premier League, but he is not allowed to play in the Europa League.
Amorim could consider giving Victor Lindelof a central defence role if Amorim decides to start Amad Diallo at right wing-back. Diallo has shown promise in recent substitute outings since his injury recovery. Noussair Mazraoui could then be utilised as a right-sided centre-back.
