Sir Jim Ratcliffe is the richest person in the UK.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is one of the richest people around the globe. He bought Manchester United this year and has made many changes, from revamping the club’s board to signing new players.

However, before his takeover, there were mixed feelings if he would be able to invest enough funds to change the fortunes of the club. But he has done a decent job and has implemented different rules.

However, the club’s performance has not changed on the pitch. But a lot of hopes have been placed as the season goes on things will turn around and the investment of Jim Ratcliffe will bear fruits.

But why Jim Ratcliffe was so eager to take over the club’s ownership? The 71-year-old was a big fan of the club after growing in close proximity to Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe was born in Oldham, Greater Manchester and is a trained chemical engineer, where he has made his fortunes. In 1992, the United’s owner mortgaged his house to buy a BP chemicals business which led to the foundation of INEOS in 1998, when he bought the BP plant.

As his business grew Ratcliffe became one of the richest people in the UK. His company manufactured a wide variety of products, including synthetic oils plastics, and solvents used to make antibiotics and insulin.

Ratcliffe also had an interest in sports. As his company became well-known around the globe he started investing in different sports. He was a massive fan of football. The first club he invested in were French Ligue 1 outfit Nice in 2019.

However, his focus has now been on building United into a competitive team after buying their 27.7 per cent stake.

According to the Forbes latest report, Sir Jim Ratcliffe boasts a personal fortune of $18.7 billion. He is currently the richest in the United Kingdom and the 86th richest in the world.
