The Red Devils are now in pole position to sign the striker.

Manchester United have put up a mammoth bid on the table for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The Red Devils have submitted a fee of €75million plus €10 million in add-ons as per The Athletic.

Both United and Newcastle were in a tussle to sign the striker, and with the Red Devils’ latest bid will once again test the waters as they push to sign the centre-forward this season.

The Magpies, who submitted €75million plus €5 million in add-ons, were told that it was insufficient by the German club, with Newcastle enhancing it to €80million plus add-ons.

Man Utd and Newcastle indulge in a fierce battle for Sesko

However, Manchester United have countered that fee with a much bigger offer, as both Premier League teams are seemingly getting into an intense battle to sign the Slovenian international.

Moreover, Newcastle have a long-standing interest in signing the player after they confirmed their interest last season. Now they are prepared to acquire the forward, after their star player, Alexander Isak, told the club he wants to explore new challenges.

On the other hand, Liverpool’s initial £110m offer for Isak was turned down by Newcastle as they wanted the suitor to meet the player’s asking price.

For Man Utd, their striking woes have been the major issue since last season, despite Rasmus Hojlund’s signing. The Dane has failed to impress under Ruben Amorim, and now United are open to selling him.

They have identified Benjamin Sesko as the ideal replacement for the former Atalanta striker and have now finally submitted a bid for Sesko. They have also reinforced their attacking line with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

Manchester United also held an interest in Ollie Watkins and were prepared to start a dialogue with the Villans, but Unai Emery’s side were clear with their stance that the England international is not for sale.

Man Utd will now hope that RB Leipzig accepts their bid, so that the transfer can be materialised before the start of the new season.
