Manchester United set to loan out two academy stars who impressed in pre-season
Joe Hugill and Radek Vitek will be loaned out after pre-season.
Manchester United seem to have discovered two talented academy stars who have shone during the pre-season so far. The Red Devils started their summer tour in a 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg but bounced back with a 2-0 win against Rangers.
Two academy stars who were impressive in those games were Joe Hugill and Radek Vitek. Both could be loaned out to other clubs to get experience before regularly playing for the first team. Vitek was in the starting lineup against Rosenborg, and despite United losing the game, he was named man of the match after pulling off a string of saves.
Now he is expected to be included in the USA tour which will provide him with more chances to prove his mettle in the pre-season. United will face Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Betis, which could see Vitek featuring in all these games before being loaned out to a club.
While United fans have already started praising the goalie and have urged Erik ten Hag to play him in all the pre-season matches.
Former Red Devils player Ronny Johnsen also sang his praises, saying: “The saves he had were very important and, also for a goalkeeper, to come in and make saves like this in your first game is important.
“He has stood up and made himself big – which he is.
Hugill and Ethan Wheatley will share No. 9 responsibilities. Rasmus Hojlund should be back at Carrington in time for the tour, but Joshua Zirkzee, a new addition, won’t start training with the team until they get back.
Alejandro Garnacho will also be absent as he gets time off after helping Argentina win the Copa America 2024 title. Hugill will then have the opportunity to make an impression in the US.
Hugill will be another youngster who will be loaned out to gain more experience as United once again focus on giving a chance to the academy players.
Last campaign we witnessed the club unearth the likes of Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo, who have since become first-team players already. In particular, Mainoo’s quick rise to prominence has been exhilarating.
The midfielder was even called up for the Euro 2024 tournament. Hopefully United will discover more such talented stars when they travel to the USA for the pre-season games.
