Manchester United yet to make decision on Jadon Sancho's future

Erik ten Hag and Sancho spoke before England international arrived at United training.
At the time when Jadon Sancho was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United were open to selling the player. But, ever since the winger has joined the club for pre-season, United are pondering over their decision, whether to offload the England international in the current summer transfer window or keep him at the club.
Sancho spoke to Erik ten Hag during the training session and now he might have a chance to play for the club this upcoming season. The tension between the Dutch boss and the 24-year-old started when the winger got into an altercation with the manager after he was not included in the matchday squad against Arsenal back in September 2023.
When Ten Hag was asked about Sancho‘s unavailability, the former Ajax manager gave an awkward response and said he was excluded due to his poor training performances in the build-up to the 3-1 defeat last September.
But, Sancho quickly took to social media and posted a long message defending himself and his performance in training. However, he later deleted the tweet.
Since then, he was prohibited from training with first-team players and was told not to enter the club’s facilities. The player was even made to train with junior players. Later in January, he was loaned to Dortmund, where he appeared to have found his form and also reached the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League final.
What’s next for Jadon Sancho?
Sancho’s future remains uncertain at the club. But, Ten Hag’s latest words underline that he could be in the plans for next season.
“As we said, we’ve drawn the line,” said Ten Hag, when asked about Jadon Sancho. “Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.”
Asked whether he has reached a truce with Sancho, Ten Hag said, “We’ve drawn the line. We move on.”
The manager of Man United is hoping that his squad’s pre-season performances will improve with the return of first-team players. In the opening friendly match, United fell short against Rosenborg, with Sancho among the six players who remained back at the club.
The Dutch boss was left frustrated despite utilizing a young team. “We can talk and make good on everything that was bad, but I am not that guy. I have seen that this is not the standard for top football,” he said.
