The England international is keen on joining the Spanish club.
Manchester United outcast, Marcus Rashford, asserted that he is now a “free player” and likened himself to Thierry Henry, a legend of Arsenal.
Due to his poor play in the first part of the 2024–25 season, Rashford was loaned to Aston Villa during the January transfer window. Under Unai Emery’s guidance, the English forward recovered his confidence at Villa Park and finished the season well.
Although Marcus Rashford has returned to Old Trafford, his future with the team is still up in the air. Barcelona are apparently interested in signing the attacker. He has been linked to a permanent departure from the Red Devils this summer.
The England international talked about his development as a football player and compared himself to French football legend Henry amid rumours about his future.
Marcus Rashford feels he and Thierry have a similar playing style
Speaking in Marbella to the Spanish YouTube channel XBuyer, the 27-year-old stated:
“I see myself reflected in Henry. He’s comfortable playing on the left and also in the middle. He’s a free player. As I’ve developed, the number 9 position has become more comfortable, more natural. Things like playing with my back to goal are becoming easier for me. You’re always in front of goal and always dangerous.”
The United school product stated that he would be eager to play with Spain phenomenon Lamine Yamal, who has already won LaLiga twice and the Euro title at the age of 17. Barcelona are the front-runner to sign Marcus Rashford before the summer transfer window ends.
Rashford says he is keen to play alongside Yamal
“It’s difficult to put into words what he’s doing because you’re not supposed to be doing that at 16, 17,” said Rashford. “I don’t think we’ve seen that before. To have [his] mentality is a skill. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best, so hopefully, we’ll see.”
Unless he finds another club in between, the United youth product is currently enjoying his break before rejoining the team for summer training next month.
