Greenwood has returned to United after his loan spell from Getafe.

Mason Greenwood’s transfer from Manchester United to Marseille is agreed upon; nevertheless, the forward must still give his assent.

The Premier League team would receive €31.6 million (£26.7 million) from the Ligue 1 team, plus a sizeable portion of any future sales. The set amount would be €27.6 million (£23.3 million) and the add-ons would be €4 million (£3.4 million).

Greenwood, who was awarded player of the season during his LaLiga loan at Getafe, returned to United’s Carrington headquarters on Monday.

He just had conversations with United executives and did not practise with the rest of the team that had returned for preseason training.

Despite the fact that last year’s allegations of attempted rape and assault against the England international were dismissed, the player was told he had no future at the club.

Numerous foreign teams have expressed interest in him as a result of his performances in Spain the previous season. However, Lazio, Atletico Madrid, and Valencia have all expressed interest in signing the player but Marseille seems to have won the race.

The Red Devils have finally accepted the £27 million offer from the French powerhouses, which also includes a sizeable sell-on fee.

United wants to add four players in total: Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich, Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna, Manuel Ugarte, 23, of PSG, and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton, for whom they have made a fresh proposal.

In addition, we previously disclosed yesterday that, should Branthwaite fail to make progress, Marc Guehi, the hero of England’s Euro 2024 team, is another target.

To assist balance the books, they are looking to let go of a few more players in addition to trying to add to Erik ten Hag’s team.
