Marseille vs AS Monaco Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds
2nd and 3rd place teams collide for three points.
It’s the Ligue 1 clash between the 2nd and the 3rd placed teams. Marseille will host AS Monaco at the Stade Vélodrome in a clash that could see them leapfrog their visitors into second place.
Les Phocéens will aim to break their recent home struggles, having collected just one point from their last three league matches at home. Their 3-1 dub over Lens last weekend was a much-needed one for them, but another loss would mark three consecutive home league defeats for the first time since early 2021.
On the flip side, Monaco will arrive on the back of consecutive league wins, although they fell to Benfica midweek in the Champions League. However, Les Monegasques still remain a tough challenge domestically. They’ve also taken points in their last three visits to Marseille, so don’t expect the ‘away’ tag will scare them.
Kick-off
Sunday, December 1, 7:45 PM UK
Monday, December 2, 1:15 AM IST
Location: Stade Velodrome
Players to watch
Mason Greenwood (Marseille)
After coming out of Manchester United, Greenwood has hit a resurgence since landing in France, and Roberto De Zerbi’s trust has been an added boost for the young Englishman. He has scored eight goals so far in the league and is only looking to add to it.
Takumi Minamino (Monaco)
Takumi Minamino is the player to keep an eye on against Marseille. The Japanese maestro has a knack for turning the unexpected into magic, whether it’s threading a perfect pass or charging back to break up a counter. With five goal contributions in 14 games, “Taki” is proving his worth why Monaco signed him from Liverpool.

Injury & team news
Marseille will likely be without Ruben Blanco and Faris Moumbagna until mid-December due to knee issues, while Valentin Carboni is sidelined with an ACL injury. Derek Cornelius and Pol Lirola might return after recovering from chest and hamstring problems, but Amine Harit’s calf issue could keep him out a bit longer. Meanwhile, Valentin Rongier, Luis Henrique, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg led a second-half surge last weekend, sealing their third straight-away win in Ligue 1.
For Monaco, Edan Diop might feature after recovering from a foot injury, while Krepin Diatta remains out with a muscle problem. Folarin Balogun, back from a knock, is pushing for a starting spot after a substitute appearance against Benfica. Adi Hutter shuffled his lineup last time, introducing Christian Mawissa, Mohammed Salisu, Denis Zakaria, and Aleksandr Golovin, and it will be interesting to see how he approaches this clash.

Match prediction
Home turf advantage is not for Marseille as they have struggled in front of their home fans as well. On the other hand, Monaco couldn’t have a better away record than they are having currently. But given the stakes, we predict the game to end all square.
Prediction: Marseille 2 – 2 Monaco
