Martin Braithwaite planning to buy LaLiga club Espanyol

The striker had fallen out with club owners which resulted in his exit.
Martin Braithwaite is planning to buy LaLiga side Espanyol after his relationship with management deteriorated. It also resulted in his departure from the club this summer. The striker has now joined Brazilian club Grêmio.
The forward pushed for a move away in 2023 when they were demoted to the Spanish second division. After that thing failed, he assisted them in making it back to LaLiga. But as matters soured between the player and the management, his contract’s exit clause was triggered, making him a free agent.
He joined the Brazilian team Gremio as a free agent after leaving the club. He now plans to purchase the Spanish team in order to exact revenge on the club’s administration.
Braithwaite scored 22 goals and made three assists in 43 games in the Segunda Division last season. Earlier, he played for Barcelona. But he didn’t have a meaningful time at the club and left them after spending two years there.
The player’s career has been a bumpy ride after his failed time at Middleborough, where he couldn’t make a mark. He then came to Spain, where he joined Leganes. Despite his time there, Barca made a surprise move for him as a backup player, making him one of their expensive signing during that window.
However, the 33-year-old’s move never really reaped rewards. He barely scored any goals. When the club wanted to sell him, he wanted to continue, which resulted in him getting booed off by fans. Martin Braithwaite ultimately left the club for local rivals Espanyol.
Braithwaite’s short stint at Espanyol has been a rollercoaster ride. He wanted to force his way out when the club was relegated to the second division. Later helped them to LaLiga promotion. Now has fallen out with the management.
It also remains to be seen if the club owners are interested in selling the team. If this happens, it will certainly be one of the strangest things in football.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old will continue his time at the Brazilian club Gremio after no European club showed interest in signing him this summer.
