Matthijs de Ligt injury update: Man United star returns to grass training at Carrington

Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Manchester United, was spotted at Carrington. He was doing individual training.
From the outside, everything appeared normal when Matthijs de Ligt exited the field following Manchester United’s victory at Crystal Palace at the end of November.
Nobody realised at the time that this could even be De Ligt’s final appearance on the field this season.
The former Bayern Munich defender’s back ailment, which at the time was not thought to be serious, kept him out of future games.
Matthijs de Ligt was spotted doing individual training
De Ligt hasn’t been included in a matchday squad in five months. He has now been seen working out on grass by himself at Carrington for the first time in an attempt to get in shape.
Matthijs de Ligt does not train with the first team as he is practising individually in an effort to regain his fitness ahead of next season.
De Ligt is “working hard on his rehabilitation, under the supervision of the club’s medical staff,” according to a statement from United.
The fact that Matthijs de Ligt has been seen working alone again is encouraging, but only in light of the recent despair surrounding his circumstances.
At first, it was anticipated that De Ligt would return in December. January came next. Then, in February, fans completely lost hope that he would return.
It is now anticipated that the centre back won’t play this season. United also doesn’t need to take a chance on him and will wait until he is fully fit.
