Matthijs de Ligt under investigation for an 'alleged hit-and-run'

The centre-back could be in danger of going to prison after ramming his car.
Matthijs de Ligt is now facing serious life problems after he crashed his car near the Bayern facility and fled the scene without stopping. The authorities are reportedly looking into the matter of the Dutch player, who is a central defender for Bayern Munich, after a car collision on August 7, according to Bild.
De Ligt allegedly sped off without stopping after his Audi Q8 e-tron crashed with another car close to Bayern’s facilities. The other automobile had to be taken away after an eyewitness reported the collision to the police.
Given that De Ligt left the scene without determining the physical state of the other vehicle’s passengers or accepting responsibility for the occurrence, the repercussions could be dire for him.
In fact, if found guilty, the 24-year-old Dutchman might receive a term of three years in prison. According to a legal expert quoted by the German tabloid, a crucial aspect of the lawsuit will be demonstrated if the Bayern star knew about the accident through audible, visual or bodily methods.
However, the good thing is that there were no injuries. Matthijs de Ligt has a mitigating circumstance and the case may be settled with a fine. So far the case has been registered against the player. The action on him will be decided on the severity of the incident.
Manchester United in talks with Bayern to sign the Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt
De Ligt’s future at Bayern remains up in the air as the centre-back wants to join Manchester United. But the deal is yet to be finalised between the two clubs. The Bundesliga club are demanding a big sum.
While his sporting situation is being handled, De Ligt is not playing for Bayern Munich at the moment. The Premier League appears to be his future as Manchester United are purportedly keen.
It’s been reported that he could transfer to Old Trafford for about $54 million. However, it’s unclear if this mishap will have a bigger impact on De Ligt’s future. It could stall his transfer and he could undergo judicial investigation.
