Mexico announce squad for March international break; Santiago Gimenez included

Both teams will face each other on 20 March.
The 23-team roster that will compete in the CONCACAF Nations League finals in March has been revealed by Mexico. Coach Javier Aguirre has selected the team that will play Canada in the semifinals. Depending on the outcome, either they will play in the third-place game or the final game. With a few surprises, it is the anticipated blend of Liga MX regulars and players from Europe.
There weren’t many shocks among the noteworthy call-ups. Perhaps the only two players who wouldn’t have been predicted to make the list are Efrain Alvarez and Ramon Juarez. However, there are several unexpected omissions from the squad.
The most noteworthy is, despite starting for his Portuguese team AVS, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who was left off the list.
Henry Martin is a further noteworthy exclusion as a forward. With just one goal in the Clausura 2025, Martin, who was a regular and netted twice in the match against Honduras that advanced Mexico to the Final Four, has fallen short of the caliber of stars like Gimenez, Jimenez, and Quiñonez, who played overseas.
Jesus Orozco, another player who excelled against Honduras but endured an unsuccessful season with Cruz Azul, experiences a similar situation.
On March 20, Mexico will play Canada in the Semifinals at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California. They will take on the Final on March 23rd if they prevail, and the third-place match on the same day if they lose.
