Mexico, who are co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are looking forward to a comeback to international prominence as they enter this summer’s competition.
El Tri has had difficulty holding onto their position as the leading CONCACAF country. It has been a constant source of frustration, and leaves people asking questions as to how they will perform in the World Cup next month.
Before their humiliating group stage elimination in 2022, Mexico had advanced to the Round of 16 in eight consecutive World Cup competitions. It leaves the national team establishment at a loss for solutions.
They are yet to announce their 26-man squad. Manager Javier Aguirre is still deciding which players will be motivated to lead the nation in the competition.
Who will be the players responsible for getting El Tri back to the knockout stage, where they feel they belong? An outline of the announcement’s date is provided below.
When will Mexico announce its official World Cup squad?
On Wednesday, May 27, Mexico’s head coach, Javier Aguirre, will formally reveal his team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Time for the squad reveal has not been announced yet.
In accordance with FIFA norms, World Cup-contending teams had to submit a preliminary roster of players by May 11. Additionally, their final, reduced roster by May 30.
There must be a minimum of 23 players and a maximum of 26 in the final squad. As a result, nearly all teams will have a maximum of 26 players.
The need that at least three of these players be goalkeepers is the only additional requirement. Other than that, Javier Aguirre essentially has complete control over who he brings to the competition; some players are guaranteed a spot if they are healthy, while others are competing to qualify.

They will play their first game on 12th June, 12:30 am IST.
