The Egyptian has once again commented on his future at Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah, star winger for Liverpool, claims he is “far away” from agreeing to a new contract with the Premier League side.

Salah, 32, has a contract that expires at the end of the current campaign and may begin negotiating a free move with non-English clubs on January 1.

As Liverpool defeated West Ham 5-0 at the London Stadium on Sunday, the Egyptian registered his 20th goal of the year, increasing their lead at the top of the league to eight points.

After the triumph, when asked about his future, Salah told Sky Sports:

“No, we are far away from that [contract] and I don’t want to put anything in the media. “The only thing on my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of that.

“I will do my best for the team to win the trophy. There is a few other teams catching up with us and we need to stay focused and humble and go again.”

The contracts of England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, club captain Virgil van Dijk, and Salah expire at the end of the current campaign.

Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, says he is not worried about the three players’ potential ability to sign pre-contract deals with international teams starting on January 1.

“I think I have a lot of control over what they do,” Slot said. “If they’re on a training pitch, if they’re in a meeting with me… but talking about the private lives, I don’t have control about them.

“I have control to a certain extent over them, from what I expect from them on the pitch, and I’m really pleased to see what Virgil brings, what Trent brings and what Mo (Salah) brings.”

Salah claimed to be “disappointed” that the club had not extended an offer to him earlier in the season.

Salah claimed that he played the match against Pep Guardiola’s team as though it were his final encounter with them following Liverpool’s victory over Manchester City earlier this month.
